Tracie Klaehn profile photo

Tracie Klaehn practices counselling and therapy in Kitchener under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Tracie is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

I have worked therapeutically and passionately with my clients since 1988 using a combination of education and life experiences while looking at the whole person in therapy.

My credentials include an Honours B.A. in Psychology from the University of Waterloo and an M.A. in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from Philips Graduate Institute in California. I am a Clinical Member in the American and Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and a Registered Therapist in Ontario. The focus of my Master’s Degree and training was working with families and children in therapy.  In addition to my formal education I have completed continuing education with the Play Therapy Institute in Canada, a two year internship with Interfaith Pastoral Training, receiving certification, and developed and led the Manic Depressive Group in Kitchener.

I look at individuals, couples, and families, as coming from a system.  Therefore, therapy involves a look at one’s family and past in order to inform the present and be able to make decisions about the future.  Attention is given to one’s thoughts, belief system, behaviors, and feelings.  One’s ethnic background is also taken into account.  In addition, I do short term solution focused therapy.  My approach is not only one model but an eclectic approach based on client need.  I see myself as a guide that works together with clients, with the expectation that clients will take an active part in their change process.
