Stephen Douglas practices counselling and therapy in Toronto (Etobicoke) and Oakville under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Stephen Douglas has provided healing and support for individuals, couples, and families for over twenty-five years as a family counsellor and psychotherapist.
In addition to traditional forms of psychotherapy, including Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relational and Satir Family Systems, Stephen has integrated Indigenous teachings and Buddhist philosophy concerning mental health and holistic well-being into his practice.
Stephen offers an effective model of change for clients who have emotional or relationship blocks leading to depression, anxiety, and chronic anger. He also provides insightful marriage and family therapy, validating every family members’ needs and helping each learn to communicate effectively without blame.

Stephen has also worked extensively in the field of family conflict, including groups for clients who are violent in their intimate relationships as well as family members who have been or have witnessed abuse. In 2000, he took a one-year sabbatical to volunteer in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, helping a community establish a domestic violence counseling program. Stephen also utilizes psychodrama and facilitates groups and workshops to help participants develop self-awareness, connection, and personal growth.
Stephen is a Registered Member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), as well as a Certified Member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists, and Psychotherapists (OACCPP).
He is Editor of Psychologica, a well-respected e-magazine published by the OACCPP. He previously served as a Board Member of the OACCPP and the Chair of the Professional Development Committee. Stephen’s articles have been published in Psychologica, the Gestalt Journal, the B.C. Counsellor, Shared Vision, and Humanist Perspectives.
