Nicole Perryman achieved her Master’s in Counselling, and is a Certified Child Psychotherapist-Play Therapist with the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy. Nicole has been working with children, youth and families for fifteen years in areas of child welfare, child abuse and trauma, and counselling. Nicole Perryman has also worked with women who have experienced abuse within partner relationships, historical sexual abuse and sexual assault.
Nicole’s practice seeks to empower, strengthen, and educate individuals to achieve their internal and external wellness by providing a holistic counselling approach. She is mindful of how difficult experiences can impact one’s social, emotional and developmental functioning, and thus therapy is client-centred and goal-oriented. Nicole incorporates interventions such as play, art, narrative, music, drama and photography. She also practices in: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution Focused Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy. Where necessary, therapy can also include Family Therapy if required to build and repair disrupted attachments and relationships. Counselling can occur in short or long-term periods depending upon the needs of the client.
Nicole assists youths and families experiencing: divorce and separation, adoption issues, trauma (including sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, and neglect), grief and loss through death or separation, low self-esteem, challenges with anger, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity, Depression and Anxiety, Attachment-related disorders, and Brain-related neurological disorders. She specializes in working with young people from ages 3 to 24, youth involved with the criminal justice system, adult women and families.
Nicole is an active member of her community, and volunteers to support adolescents and women.
