Claire Langridge
C.Y.W. Cert., Registered Social Services Worker
Claire offers Counselling/Psychotherapy services, as well as Supervised Psychological Counselling under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Psychological Associate.
I practice counselling in Acton, Georgetown and Milton under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
I am a professional member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors, Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, as well as the Association of Parent Support Groups of Ontario. I have been counselling children, youth and their families for over 20 years. My qualifications enable me to provide support to clients who are struggling with unique life situations, mental health concerns, developing healthy relationships and coping with the challenges that can arise during the developmental stages of childhood through adolescence. Being relatable , understanding and non-judgmental enables me to help young people gain life skills and insight to increase their ability to make healthier choices. Parents are supported in dealing with behaviour changes, recognizing their child’s assets and forming positive relationships with their children as they mature. Parents and young people are offered skills and strategies that are unique to their family, for coping with change, conflict and external influences such as substance use, sexuality and peer influence.
You will find me to be a friendly, sensitive, caring, honest and direct counsellor. Known for my dynamic, energetic and outgoing personality, I have the ability to create positive, trusting relationships with children and youth. I am a good listener and I am creative in my approach to improving relationships. I am dedicated to ongoing education and continue to work towards a fuller, richer experience of my own life through therapy. I draw from my experience in life, therapy and my expertise when I offer support to my clients. I believe that parents can have a powerful influence on a child’s life, and the quality of that relationship should allow for learning and mistakes on both sides. This allows a family to have relationships that are healthy and respectful.
