Anushka Fernandes
MSW, RSW, Registered Social Worker
Anushka offers Counselling and Psychotherapy services.
I am a Registered Social Worker through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I graduated with a Master of Social Work Degree from Carleton University and have experience working in community mental health and child and adolescent mental health. My areas of speciality include working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, anger, behavioural concerns, and trauma. Additionally, I have experience working with individuals (including children 6 years and older) who are neurodivergent. In my work with people, I use a variety of approaches to inform therapy including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT for children), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Narrative Therapy. I approach therapy from a trauma informed, and attachment-based lens, and place a large focus on the therapeutic relationship being a catalyst for change. When working with children, I often incorporate my love of art and play into sessions to make treatment age and developmentally appropriate for them. When working with me, you will be met with non-judgement, unconditional positive regard, genuine empathy, and a sense of humour.
