What is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)?
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a structured and systemic teaching method based on learning theory that teaches new skills and decreases unwanted behaviours. ABA has been shown to be an effective treatment for individuals with Autism and other disabilities.
Who can benefit from ABA services?
Individuals diagnosed with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorders (Autism, Asperger’s, PDD-NOS)
- Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
- Genetic disorders (Down Syndrome, Fragile X)
- Behaviour disorders (ADHD, ODD)
- Anxiety disorders
What skills are targeted within ABA services?
- Academic skills
- Behaviour issues
- Communication (vocal language, PECS, sign)
- Parent coaching
- Play skills
- School readiness
- Self-help skills (toileting, feeding)
- Sibling issues
- Social skills
Extended health benefits (insurance) may be used to cover some or all of the cost of ABA services.
How do you locate an ABA team?
At Dalton Associates, our Clinical Supervisors are registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and provide supervision for ABA services. Our associates are Senior Therapists who supervise front line therapists who work with your child.
