Counselling in Toronto
Therapist Profile: Lori Ralko
Lori Ralko practices counselling and therapy in Downtown Toronto under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Lori has an M.A. in Psychoanalysis from Middlesex University and is a training candidate at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis (TICP). She is also working towards a doctoral degree in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling from New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (NSPC). Lori is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP).
Lori’s approach to therapy rests on her understanding that behavioural patterns, reactions to people and events, and ways of relating to others (and self) are often motivated by factors that are unconscious or outside of awareness. Therapy provides an opportunity to reduce the strength of these inhibiting factors by bringing them into consciousness and examining their influence.
Blending psychoanalytic and existential approaches to therapy, Lori helps clients to explore hidden connections between past experiences and current challenges in life, work, and relationships – a process which can help to clear away barriers, open up new opportunities, and stimulate a surprising degree of change. In particular, an exploratory therapy can be especially helpful for people who are going through life transitions such as divorce, relationship endings, coming out, pregnancy, new parenthood, marriage, career change, mid-life crisis, and retirement.
Lori also has a special interest in working with people who are experiencing anxiety, obsessive thoughts or self-esteem issues. She works with clients face to face and online.
